Eragon
Eragon is a book written by Chistopher Paolinin when he was just fifteen years old. It follows the story of the titular character, a young boy who discovers a strange stone when out hunting for his family. When he discovers the stone is actually a dragon egg, stolen from the cruel ruler Galbatorix, he is thrown into turmoil and danger. While Eragon has already been adapted to film, I think that the story would work well for TV, allowing for the time needed to tell the story and allowing for cgi. The Inheritance Cycle was accessible for many younger readers due to the authors own age and grew with them as they got older so I wanted to create something that is reminiscent of the original series and play into the nostalgia that many have.
The plot focusses a lot on Eragon trying to get revenge on Galbatorix’s henchmen for killing his uncle. He spends a lot of time thinking that once he has done this, he will be able to go home despite being told by Brom, a storyteller who travels with him, that he is too important to do that. His thoughts bely the fact that he young and unsure of his place in the world, with a recently shaken up perspective. He has a kind heart, refusing to kill certain people, perhaps to the detriment of those around him.
